Hello everybody,
some words of clarification about the role of Sintattica.
Last year iBuildings decided it was time for them to discontinue ATK's forum, wiki and domain. We were asked if we wanted to take over for them. We gladly agreed so now we host these resources on our servers, because they are still valuable resources and because we still use ATK for some applications. We took over the hosting in a transparent way, without interfering with the current management of the forum and the wiki, just because we wanted to save those resources.
We all know that ATK's code is largely outdated. In order to use it in modern applications and environments, one has to patch it. So we did, and still do today, for our own purposes and in our fork. We put it on github because we think it may also be of interest to others, but honestly we don't have the resources to actively manage it as a community-driven project.
That being said, let's point out that:
- we consider version 7 as deprecated;
- version 8 is the one we are working on;
- backward compatibility of version 8, although it should not be taken for granted, is also desirable for ourselves;
- version 9 is totally experimental; if it will ever see the light of day, it'll possibly break backward compatibility completely;
- due to the lack of time and resources, we currently have no plans to actively participate in the forum; we would like to, though, so never say never...;
- concerning pull requests, we can not guarantee that they will be taken into account because they may not match our objectives.
