Hi all,

Just a thought is there anyone interested in reporting functionality native to ATK? I know that the team at achievo use Crystal Reports which for some people may not be feasible (money, philosphy etc). But I have found a reporting engine which is open source, php based and seems fairly flexible. The engine is Agata Report and can be found here http://www.agata.org.br . It has a GUI for creation of reports (I don't think it is drag and drop not sure) and it also has an API which means any php application can import the API and use it to call reports, seems like it could be integrated to ATK if anyone was interested.

Once I have an application created at the level where I will consider reporting I am planning on looking at Agata Reports just currious as to whether anyone else is interested in it? (obviously those more advanced than me may look at how to integrate into ATK framework  ).

Regards,

JamieT

great suggestion, I will definitely have a look at it.

I've never found a good open source reporting engine (which is why we use Crystal Reports), but I hadn't heard of Agata yet.

jamiet,

Sorry jgarifuna,

I haven't looked at this is quite a while now as life seems to be taking over my time (new baby etc). I suspect this would be beyond my skill set but if I do revisit I'll let you know.

Regards,

JamieT

new baby? congratulations!!!!

(assuming it's a real baby and you're not talking about a new macbook or something else that hackers might call 'a new baby') ;-)

JamieT,

Congratulations on the new baby!

Ivo makes a good point. Last week, there was a gun fan that called his gun his baby as he was asking a gun-related question to the candidates for government on CNN :)

Thanks for the well wishes guys

Yes I can confirm it is a real baby (of the crying, keeping awake at night and messy nappy variety :D ) and not a macbook or gun or any other gadget or toy. I am afraid with two kids gadgets don't get much of a look in. At the moment time is split between work (the one that pays the bills and I enjoy the least) and family. Someday soon I hope to get back into the programming (with atk of course) and finish some of my projects (being time poor was why I started on atk in the first place). Until then I keep an eye on the forums etc.

Regards,

JamieT

Need help with what ? what did you try ? because as far as I know Crystal Reports, it connects directly to the database. Or are you trying to get the reports out of an Crystal Reports server with the COM object ?

Hi sandy,

yeah maybe thats what siriza means. i was trying to open crystal reports in a php application with COM server but was not able to do that. i settled with jorge pdf instead but some of the reports are created in CR connected with a customize report viewer application in VB. Still tryin to integrate CR with ATK though but i cant get the correct result right now.
